Thursday Night Men Week 2

September 13, 20242 min read

Hello bowlers! After a difficult Tuesday, it was a decent rebound night on Thursday night. My focus was better, physical game was much better, but still need more work on managing lane transition. Here's the breakdown:

Game 1 started off with a double, then a 9-spare, and a four bagger before chopping the 3 off of a 3-10 split. Spare, double, and fill for 234, all with the Black Widow 3.0 Solid. That ball is phenomenal, and a great value for all it does. Tried to continue with the BW3 into the second game, but the midlanes broke down and created a lot of early friction. Switched to the 900 Global Sublime for a few frames, but had similar issues with it. Out comes the Storm Virtual Energy Blackout to save the day! Finished a clean game with a 200. Now comes the hard part. Spare, double to start game 3, then left a 4-6-7 split. Struck once more, then overshot a 2-4-5 spare for another open. Left a 7 pin, then a 4 pin, struck, and left a 10 pin to finish with a measly 168, 602 total. I have to blame myself for that third game score, just couldn't convince myself to move far enough left. Something I must get better at in the 5 man leagues.

On Tuesday, a reader asked how I remembered so much detail about my scores to put into these posts. The truth is, I don't remember all that detail, I rely on the Lanetalk app for all the detail. If you don't already use it, I strongly suggest you try out the free version. If your center's scoring supports it, you can download your games within minutes after completing your bowling. It then breaks down all your statistics into easy to read graphs and comparisons. The subscription version takes your stats into even greater depth, and is a great tool to help bowlers understand, and improve upon, their tendencies. If you do use Lanetalk, please add me as a friend, I'd love to see how you're doing!

As always, feel free to contact me at coachcraig12x@gmail.com with any questions or comments. Until next time:

  • Practice what needs improvement, not just what you do well

  • Check your bowling supplies, and refill/replace the things you've used

  • Have fun bowling!
