Partytimers first week

September 05, 20242 min read

Welcome to the initial blog of 12X Bowling Pro Shop. My intent is to journal my experiences, good and bad, in the 2024-2025 bowling league season. I am bowling in 3 leagues this year at Shelby Lanes in Shelby Township, MI. Here is the schedule:

Tuesday Night Partytimers League: A weekly league, 4 person teams, any mix of genders.  I’m on a team with my wife and 2 other ladies.

Thursday Night Men’s League: Another weekly league, 5 man teams. Our team has been together for several years, and these guys are some of my best friends in the world.

Saturday Night Mixers: A bi-weekly league, 4 person teams, 2 men & 2 women. Our team consists of my wife and another couple.

So, last night was the first night for the Partytimers league. I only bowled 9 league games during the summer, so I wasn’t expecting much. Took a book average of 203 into last night’s competition. My 3 game series was 657, with games of 189, 225, and 243. I started off with my Hammer Black Widow Solid 3.0 in warmup, and put it away after 3 shots, too much friction. Had a decent look with my Global 900 Sublime, and started game 1 with it. I quickly found out that while I could get to the pocket with it, I wasn’t carrying well. After trying to force it for a few frames, I switched to my Storm Virtual Energy Blackout in the 7th frame, made a big move left, and struck 3 of the remaining 4 frames to salvage a 189. Stuck with the VEBO for the rest of the night, making small moves to the left and a little forward/backward on the approach. There was a LOT of friction in the midlane last night, but the VEBO glided through it like it’s supposed to, and I was able to consistently hit my target and string strikes. I left 13 different spares during the 3 games, missing 3 makeables and 2 splits. The league uses a 7 point system, and our team won 2 games, and lost 1 game and totals for a 4-3 split. More than acceptable for the first week, and a great time with our team and our opponents.

That’s all for the Tuesday night adventures. Next up is Thursday Men’s tomorrow. I hope you enjoyed this! If you have any questions or comments, feel free to email me at [email protected], and I’ll be happy to answer them. Until next time!
